Patrick Wolf is an English pop singer-songwriter. His launch is dated back to 2003 with the release of “Lycanthropy”. Now his fifth album “Lupercalia” has been just released.
“Lupercalia” might represent one of the biggest risks ever run by Patrick Wolf. Unlike his previous releases, often characterized by an overall melancholy that mirrored Patrick’s own experiences, this time he decided to underline the positive aspects of his life rather than the negative ones. Among them, one is clearly explicit and worth writing about to him: love. Still risking to sound silly or mawkish, Patrick showed the courage he always brought with him in every album and in every different appearance he assumed in each one of them. “Lupercalia” is an ode to love as it is, to the acceptance of the ending of it and the beginning of a new one in turn. Trust and strength are celebrated with a simplicity that shrinks from his previous releases, still sounding the perfect way to deal with the subject chosen. Love to Patrick appears like something to be told once laid bare, something pure which is worth living and sharing and in his case, it truly is.
Whatever subject Patrick shall choose to treat in his future albums, as far as he will keep it as sincere as this, it will surely turn out outstanding.
