Procession – Destroyers Of The Faith

Releasedate: 08-12-2010; Label: High Roller Records/Doomentia
By: Sabine van Gameren

Procession is a Doom Metal band coming from Chile. The band is fairly young, they started in 2006. “Destroyers Of The Faith” is the band’s debut full length and is out now.

Procession have left a good impression worldwide, with the release of their EP last year. There is bit shuffled in the lineup, but with the new drummer and bassist they manage to set something quite in vain of what has been heard before of Procession. “Destroyers of The Faith” comes in strong, with six songs that each are heavily doomed. Deep bass tragically ongoing into atmospheric riffs where the speed may go up a bit more than thought, but when the vocals come in the atmosphere change a bit. Breezes of hope in deep misery, the band packs it well. It is refreshing to see that these guys from Chile have a certain dose of originality as well. Especially the melodic riffs come out very well in the music and seem not to go under for the misery.
Procession have made a very interesting release which sets quite some expectations for a new album. Simply one of the better doom acts that has released an album this year, and this is only the beginning.
