The Crown is one of those bands that make a comeback after some years. The Crown however does this with a smashing new album, marching on with the band showing they still know how to play some brutal metal. The band was formerly known as Crown Of Thorns from 1990 until 1997 being known as one of those bands that are great in mixing the rough American and the Scandinavian death metal. A comeback because in the year 2004 the band decided to split up, right now they are back only with a new singer found in Jonas Ståhlhammer (Utumno and God Macabre) who took over from Jonas Lindstrand. Jonas fits into the band seamlessly.
With a new singer the band had the intentions to call the band Dobermann at first. However during the recording process it became obvious to them that the music they made was pretty much The Crown sound. The band decided to release this as The Crown, evermore because Jonas’ voice is pretty close to Johan’s. They recorded the album at Marko Tervonen his own studio and therefore they could take breaks in between recording sessions when they needed it. In this way they could create the best crushing riffs and brutality that the music needed. When you listen to the album you will hear that old school Swedish death/Thrash style with fast pounding drums and shredding riffs. The band also played with atmosphere on “The Tempter And The Bible Black”, adding a little bit more groove. Brutal likes on this album are “Soul Slasher” and “From The Ashes I Shall Return” but because almost all tracks are like this it is pretty sure everyone will have their own favourite.
