Sündenklang is the side project of Martin (Mart) Soer also known as founder and lead singer of Stahlmann (based in Germany). The first record “Tränenreich” was released in 2014 and the second “Jahresringe” is out now.
The core of the record is based on deep and strong emotions that didn’t change from track to track. The process of mixing and fixing existed stuff has provided the recognizable EBM sound with glimpse of not so-dark-pop (“shady” would be a more correct term). In the end, ten tracks became pretty simple and interesting as well. Formally, “Jahresringe” is prepared with three options: darkness, tranquility and groove. Get closer to the tracks.
Firstly, the dynamic ones. There are great examples like “Staub” and “Antiheld”. “Staub” was the main single of the forthcoming album; you can watch the lyric video with impressive background on record label’s YouTube channel. Secondly, dramatic examples include piano and violins accompaniment (“Du bist mein Licht” and “Auf den Weg” fit more for this thesis). And the last one is my personal fav “Schwarze Götter” with creeping narrative and touch of dark pop on its best.
Not the best record you’ve heard ever and definitely not the worst one. Perhaps it’s not electricity but chemistry of any emotions.
