The Swedish Death Metal formation Facebreaker has been formed in 1999. “Infected” is the third full length album coming from their hands.
Obviously brutal expectations were set for this album and the band doesn’t let you down. They come in brutal from the start and keep this within their sound without weakening up. Sure, forget about originality, this album is not about that, here it is the tempo changes, from slow to top speed, blasts etc. You can hear the drums sinking a bit to the back every once and a while but overall they remained present enough to keep adding that substantial backing that is needed for them. The production tend to be modern, rather than some of those bands that prefer to stick to the old school sound. Gone with the time, rather than against it. “Infected” is basically a typical album you might have expected from a Swedish band. It lives up to the main names in the genre. Found rage and aggression as a keyfactor and seemed to try to top themselves with what they have done in the past.
A good release, nearly able to set against Grave and Bloodbath for example, but kept their distance from them too.
