Yverdoom is a band from Switzerland. They named their band after the place the are coming from, Yverdon. Finding out that Pestalozzi place is a cozy square in town (try google maps!) You might wonder what brought these guys to the rage of writing about a massacre there as their album is called “Pestalozzi Platz”.
The band formed in 2006 and since that time they bring this typical Thrash Metal as to be found on this debut album. They chosen a modern approach, flirting with different genres too and brutality comes in from very first song. In general the songs are a bit chaotic, a bit more order in them could have done a great job, but what comes forward at all is the fact that their sound is quite groovy. I would not call it the most original band here, but they stand apart from copycatting a whole genre, having a pro on all the others in the way they use the drums in combination with the guitar. They show their face very well and try to make a statement with it. The band did make a bit of a different impression with their artwork, it would indicate more to some Black/Doom band, but never judge the cd only by its cover, as you might only get their causes when you get yourself into their music.
Quite good as a debut, they made their point. Next time, do even a little more of Yverdoom in it and then you have a record that you keep on playing.
