The American band Valdur makes Black Metal. They have been formed in 2003 and after releasing a full length in 2007 and a bunch of splits it is now time for “Raven God Amongst Us” their second full length album.
Although the band is coming from USA, some of the song titles do not immediately refer to that. Valdur stands for sharp riffs on quite good tempo. The band reminds a bit to some that include the paganism in their sounds as a main thing, but Valdur stand out more on the guitar work. Instead, on the there is a slight edge of Death metal to find back and this makes the sound a bit more stinging. In the production some choices could have been made different. The vocals could have been a bit more present, currently they stay far behind on the rest. Drums take a lot of that on plate. After all the band sticks with traditional sound, not too much experimenting, just stay with the familiar feeling. Short songs, for Black Metal standards, which come to the point within 5 minutes. Not much wrong with that. Valdur is a good extension of your collection, as long as you are not expecting to find something you have not heard before.
