Asbaar is a Spanish project by Marc Merinee. Its dark ambient material and the album is called “Corona Veli Aurei”
Inspired by nature, that must be with such artwork. Trees dominate on the cover self, but the booklet gives space to a darker side of what is around. Marc Merinee, the man behind this project, is also known from Eldar. Conspicuous is, that these songs in general seem quite timid, but act with characteristic vehemence. It takes a bit to start up, but when you get into it you feel the stormy atmosphere over you, like walking in the middle of nowhere. A field of snow and the wind sniping around your head. The feeling is lithe though. Not all moments will meet the trenchant side of the climate but throughout the record this feeling stays like this. Fans of this genre might be looking for a little more excitement, a lot these tracks are alike. And when the winter is there a warm place in front of the fireplace will satisfy more than the sound of winter through the room. It’s peaceful, but quite minimalistic as well. One to listen to occasionally, for when it is just enough to create that dramatic atmosphere in the house.
