Linus Lutti is the mind that stands behind this Swedish Alternative Indie project. Coming from the duo Idiot Kid, he formed Little Children in 2009 where he is the main composer and player. In Silence is the first release of this band.
What immediately hits you after the first seconds of listening, is that elaboration and complexity are not a component of the songs you’re going to listen to. The album opens with “Demons”, an almost a cappella song that adequately shows the general mood the album is into. Even though dark and generally sad subjects are touched upon, a mood of optimism prevails. The flowing of the songs goes on very naturally and although it runs the risk of grinding on you a bit, this doesn’t really happen. In Silence in caught right in the middle of opposite poles such as darkness and lightfulness, anguish and peacefulness. All these elements are sometimes blended, sometimes interchanged in order to keep repetition away from the listening. But what really sounds weird and enchanting at the same time is that Linus Lutti manages to do it with the same approach in both the poles. Basically, he makes use of the same instruments in all the songs and above all, he uses his voice in the same eased way. Still, it all seems changing and developing all the time. It’s like he shows the step that divides these opposite feelings isn’t that big and instead of shifting from one to the other one, he rather creates a bridge between them where they’re perfectly balanced.
