Releasedate: 15-09-2010; Label: Witching Hour
By: Sabine van Gameren
The Polish band Magnus has been active for quite some years. Formed in 1987, would take them to their first full length release in 1992. In 1994 their most recent release until now got to the world. A long period of silence came, but anno 2010 the band comes with “Acceptance of Death”.
The band brings Death Metal with, what you might expect, the old school influences of Death and Thrash of the 90’s. On this album they seem to have taken the time in consideration and choose to include some influences of modern music in a slight way. They surely took some experiments in these years no one heard of them. Although the music sets ground of liking these guys there is some hesitation. The band has not that typical top class thing that some bands bring, their own sound brought with such an enormous passion that you believe every word they say. Someone has been digging up this band, whether they crawled out of the graves themselves, bringing pretty much what they always have done but somehow the expectations of this band have been higher. Fans who look for another album of standard old school material can safely buy this, but don’t expect to find a masterpiece that changes your life.
