Armagedda – I am

Releasedate: 06-09-2010; Label: Nordvis Produktion
By: Sabine van Gameren

Armagedda is a Swedish Black Metal formation that started in 1999. They have been quiet for some years, but anno 2010 there comes an EP called “I am” into the world.

My first response hearing this release was something like: how the hell do they dare to send this out for reviewing? Did they recorded this live with their mobile phone? Finding out more, this seems to be some lost material. Apparently they never bothered to redo it. You can like it raw, but this seems to be the bottom. I doubt the Swedish have even thought of actually working with it before sending it out. They could have done their selves a bit more of a favor to have a second listen to it their selves, make a decent recording of it and then there is something more valuable. It is not that the band have bad songwriting capabilities, underneath this mess there is a blast beat, some slower parts, raw guitars with an edge and vocal wise a good base.
For die-hard fans and collectors this release might be it, but furthermore it is not the release that gets you into the band if you have not known them before.
