Meltgsnow is a formation from Singapore, making gothic metal. They are around since 1999. “Black Penance” is their second full length release.
Hard to say in which house you would place these rockers. Paradise Lost gets mentioned, which seems to hit a part of their abouts for sure, but does not really give a tight description of what to expect of these guys. I would say a bit of Ihsahn matches the music as well. This especially in the vocal parts. Higher screams eventually a grunt in between, a touch of heavy metal. The band seem to take their style from different genres. Also on the guitars there are plenty differences to hear. Fast riffs a la the old school Thrash and a twist of melody accompanied by melodic bass lines they created make the music go towards the corners of its characteristics. The album comes out above expectations, a whole lot of diversity mixed into the right way, making something diverse and different enough to keep you interested in this album. A surprising element is that this album closes with a duet. On “Love for My Seraph” a female named Candice de Rozario, takes place next to Lord Insanity, the band’s vocalist.
An interesting band that might attract a wide audience due to the variety of styles enhanced in their sound. “Black Penance” is a splendid album and certainly unleashes a gateway for the hungry curious music lovers.
