Murderdolls is an American horror punk supergroup, founded during 2002 in Hollywood, California. The band line-up consists of core members Wednesday 13 and Joey Jordison. Former members include Ben Graves, Acey Slade, Eric Griffin & Tripp Eisen. To date the band has released one album in the form of “Beyond the Valley of the Murderdolls” which was released in 2002. The band had limited initial success in the United States, though their album and singles charted well in the United Kingdom and around the same time they picked up a strong following in Japan. Their second studio album is now released and is called “Women and Children Last”.
Eight years passed since the last Murderdolls album. A reunion was always the talk of the town but more a rumor than a real story. And now, finally, they are back with a brand new album! “Women and Children Last” ends the wait with a big band. After eight years of waiting and distracting our impatience with Wednesday13 or Bourbon Crow all expectations of a new album and sometimes even the hope for a new Murderdolls album were come that all Murderdolls fans now just welcome this new CD with open arms. It is almost like a miracle: Eight years of doubts and dying hopes and here it is, held in hands. Shaking impatient and totally happy as the CD gets put into the CD player and the play button is hard to press out of excitement. Already the first sounds release a squeaking sound of happiness: It definitely was not a dream and the new stuff is more than just awesome. Speechless and totally quiet the album plays through a first time, observed by the open ears of an old Murderdolls fan. And the replay button gets hit immediately. The new songs are catchy and fast, just like we know it from the old Murderdolls stuff. The evil touch in each songs with the morbid lyrics still spread happiness and laughter through the room, as well as planting a wide and evil, maybe even demonic grin on your face. Murderdolls are back and better than ever. Each song is a hit itself. “Nowhere” could even be a song played on the radio. This album is definitely one of the best releases of 2010! And more than half of all songs on this album are potential all time favorites. The lyrics still sound like out of a Horror Movie Script á la Rob Zombie. Murderdolls are back, “Women and Children Last” is the best nightmare before Christmas and I totally can’t wait to see them live with this album. Enjoy and have an early happy Halloween!
