The USA band Christian Mistress is from the USA. They make Heavy Metal and their album “Agony & Opium” is their debut.
Heavy Metal, well… it is certainly there but the first thing that jumped to mind was Juliette Lewis with a bit heavier backing and maybe steadier vocals. That good old punk attitude hangs in the background too. In the riffage is plenty variety. On one side you heave the bluesy sights, but more elaborated riffs are standing right across it and it works out well in the music. Not all solo’s were the most awaited ones but they do not fall out of place. Bassstays a bit more in the background while the drums get forward. All in all they have taken a quite raw concept. It takes you back in time, but also into the future. They have an underground attitude, let the people spread the word. Especially because after all the raw power, this album closes with “Omega Stone” which starts so calmly and slowly built to that climax. It’s a typical song that will be remembered by many for this.
It’s being said that people spread the word for him, I am more happy to spread some words for them, as this album won’t disappear in the collection soon. “Agony & Opium” is a stayer!
