Papa Roach is an American rock band from Vacaville, California. Their first major-label release was the triple-platinum debut album “Infest” (2000). The group’s success continued with their gold album “Lovehatetragedy” (2002), their platinum album “Getting Away with Murder” (2004) and “The Paramour Sessions” (2006). Their latest album, “Metamorphosis”, was released on March 24, 2009. The band’s new studio/live album, “Time for Annihilation”, will be released on August 31, 2010. Papa Roach has sold more than 10 million album copies worldwide, and are known for their hits “Last Resort”, “Scars”, “Forever”, and “Lifeline”, among others. “Time For Annihilation…On the Record and On the Road” is released now as their first live album and seventh studio album.
“Time For Annihilation” includes five brand new tracks and nine live tracks recorded on their last run of the tour with Shinedown. The five brand new tracks are “Burn”, “One Track Mind”, “Kick In The Teeth” which is also the first single of this album, “No Matter What” and “The Enemy”. Looking at the cover of the new album you can already feel the energy the band has and it feels like the flames come right at you. With pressing play and hearing ”Burn” you can feel the fire inside you. “Burn” has a bigger focus on the lyrics than on the music around them. The chorus is amazing and powerful. Continuing with “One Track Mind” you can feel the power Papa Roach has. The awesome strong lyrics are kicking ass, the melody is making you twitch and wanting to go along. The bass line on this track is very amazing as well. This song is easy to memorize and will definitely get stuck in your head. “Kick In The Teeth” is a little bit more floating but not less kicking. A wonderful song and awesome live! “No Matter What” is slightly slower than the previous and a lot deeper. At least to me the lyrics mean a whole lot, and you can hear that they also mean a lot to Jacoby. An amazing and very beautiful song. “The Enemy” is another very personal and awesome song. The hard chorus and strong verses are getting stuck in your head immediately, catchy melodies are making it hard to not keep on singing along long after the song has ended. From now on you can hear the live madness Papa Roach causes when being on stage. You can feel the energy they spread while playing these songs and how the audience goes along to it. You can see them perform in front of your inner eye and wake up soaked in sweat back in reality on your couch or wherever you where while listening and want to taste the chaos again. A brilliant album and definitely a time for annihilation!
One last very important thing is to say about the album: On the album is a hidden track that has a special message recorded by Jacoby Shaddix. The message encourages fans to help fight homelessness and hunger. He asks fans to take out their phones and to text a number to “WhyHunger” to donate $5 to them.
Now get out there and get it! Papa Roach will hit the roads again soon, so check the dates and make sure to have a Taste of Chaos!
