Darkseed is a German Gothic Metal band that formed in 1992. After five years of silence the band comes with a new album “Poison Awaits”.

As if the name of the album tells you, it took some time for the band to release this album. Darkseed is one of the typical German Gothic Metal bands. With the advance that they have been around for quite some time already so they have not stayed unnoticed. The band had to find a new singer as their old singer left the band, but they found replacement within the band self by Harald Winkler who had previously played drums in the band. Vocal wise these two are not too far away from each other, maybe a bit in the advance of Harald who’s voice seem to be more clean and clear. In their instrumentals they seem to be a bit darker than before, the keys seem to be a bit more to the background giving more space to the guitars. Fans from the earliest work might have to swallow, the music ain’t as deep as they have been in the first albums, but seem to be made into a different direction. Towards the end of the album there are some more songs that will please those too, if they find them selve patience enough to await it all.
The production of the album is quite good. Very modern approach but not taken into extremes, which does the album well. The only thing that might stroked a bit against this all is the fact that the album does not really have one song that stands out a lot above the rest, no theme to their selves. But nevertheless “Poison Awaits” is an interesting album for gothic fans and surely worth to check out. With this one, we expect to see the band on some stages of the gothic festivals in Germany and perhaps the rest of Europe.
