The Polish band Mouga makes Modern Metal. The band had formed in 2005 and anno 2010 it is time for a debut album. It is called “The God And Devil’s Schnapps”.
At first sight this band did not really made a good impression. Fall Out Boy and The Mars Volta were mentioned on the info sheet and when you turn on the music you start wondering how this had come out of it. You’ll get emo, metalcore, nu-metal all in one but maybe the total mix is a step aside of the mentioned names. The production of the album is quite strong. A lot of work has been done, you can hear that there is put effort in getting the guitars in the right place with the right power. That makes it a bit unstable sometimes. A little bit raw music could have given it some more strength, but in the end it turned out to be ok.
“The God and Devil’s Schnapps” is not a world changing record, not something new under the sun and certainly not best of it all, but Mouga delivered a record that people might enjoy when they are into this genre. Let’s not get stuck by the name dropping, just get into it to see.
