Gloria Morti is a Finnish band that started in 1999. They make a mix of Death and Black metal and their third album “Anthems of Annihilation” is out now.
Observing the line up from this band, you might not be surprised that this album comes with melodic sides next to the brutality that comes from the genre itself. In tempo the band goes into diversity as well. Seems like the band gives it all. Well the sound of this music is thick, full. There is plenty to hear and it is safe to say that this band deserves several listening session before you can say that you come close to experience it all. Juho Räihä is in this band. He is known from Before the Dawn and you can hear that typical signature of his guitar work back in this music as well. Exactly as you could expect from him. Maybe a bit predictable but yet convenient. The album also contains an instrumental track, ”Swallowed By Defeat”, which makes breaks the album a bit, giving the peace back to the listener and towards the end of the track preparing for the rest of the album. The story what this band tries to tell with their album seems not the most important factor. You don’t have to hear it to feel what the album is about. A steady release from these Finns. Worth to check out, won’t be misplaced in any metalfan his/her collection.
