The Body is a band from USA. They make a quite eccentric form of metal, meeting sludge, minimalism, postrock and more. “All The Waters Of Earth Turn To Blood” is their latest release.
The Body is perhaps not the most common band around. Their album starts with female voices, just that, for almost 7 minutes and then finally some more power gets into it. Guitars are downtuned, obviously bringing a substantial part of the doom atmosphere here, scratching through drum parts making those go to the background, infatuating you with the way they try to fool your brains every now and then. With uncharacteristic vehemence the band knows to give a twist to it, making the strange vocals float over into instruments easily. What is perhaps one of the lesser points of the album, it never becomes really intense. You listen carefully waiting for that moment that drags you into the sound experiencing it as you are close to it but the band keeps their distance to the listener and that is missing most in their music. Also, the hope for that total outburst of intensity never really comes, so with this album The Body did not bring you one that is life changing. Good for a some time, but not too spectacular.
