Post rock band East of The Wall has set their name while releasing a split with the bands Rosetta and Year of No Light. Now it is time for their full length album “Ressentiments” to be released.
People who knew this band before are probably not used to hear vocals in their sound but although it makes the music more accessible there are not any substantial changes in the impact that a composition of this band makes. The band makes interesting constructions, where instruments build up and catch quite some melodics too. The use of clean and more aggressive vocals make the music connect with emo core in some way, but in the instrumentals they held back in going too far in that direction. The band is quite playful, but leaves tempo’s for what they are. Not too huge leaps can be found, their playfulness comes from guitar riffs and vocals, in the calmest parts a bit of a jazz attitude may be found as well.
The band clearly finds inspiration in different scenes. Nevertheless they made a very listenable album. Plenty variation, it will keeps you listening for quite a bit. Definitely worth trying if you are into the Post Rock genre.
