Releasedate: May 2010; Label: Soulseller Records

The Norwegian band Svartahrid has been around since 1994. During these years they got their name settled in the Black Metal scene and anno 2010 they are up for the release of their new album “Ex Inferi”.
It is their fifth full length and the band still catches the sound of old school metal in their sound. Besides the cold atmosphere the album also carries some ambience with it, bringing the experience to higher level. Filthy vocals, raw and with a mean edge on it, spit the lyrics towards you, whether you want to hear it or not. Also interesting is the drums by Forn, also responsible for the synth, an interesting combination. The fact that this music is inspired by what’s been done in the past, makes it not the most original one but nevertheless “Ex Inferi” is an album that Black Metal fans can buy without hesitating. The compositions are good and well balanced, the production is smooth but leaves enough filth in it to keep the idea of Black Metal alive and after listening to 11 tracks the hunger to their sound is not really stilled yet, which implicates that this one will stay. Well done Svatahrid, we like this stuff!
