The Mission (known as The Mission UK in the United States) were a gothic rock band formed in 1986 from the splinters of the freshly-dissolved rock band The Sisters of Mercy. The band was started by frontman Wayne Hussey and bassist Craig Adams (both from the Sisters of Mercy), soon adding drummer Mick Brown (Red Lorry Yellow Lorry) and guitarist Simon Hinkler (Artery and Pulp). Aside from Hussey, the line-up has changed several times during the years. The band has released several studio album throughout the years. Now they released a Best Of album called “Dum Dum Bullet”.
With an awesome sound that reminds of an The Crow soundtrack The Mission are back in your CD player. “It Don’t Matter Anymore Anyhow” starts out a compilation of The Mission songs with mostly b-sides, some re-recordings as well as some new songs. “Refugee” has great vocals with dark emotions, a very passionate song. “Room 22” has awesome vocals as well. “Chelsea Rain” has some really catchy tunes combined with a slightly aggressive sound in some vocal parts, a really awesome song. “Acoustic Blush” is an acoustic recording. “So Many Things” is one of the faster songs on “Dum Dum Bullet”. “Katya’s Lullaby”is an awesome and very touchy instrumental arrangement. “Aquarius & Gemini” is the opposite of the song before: it is a cappella and a little darker and more dramatic, almost sounding like one of the tragic songs on “Heroin Diaries” by Sixx A.M. The last song on this wonderful album is a very slow and touchy song with a gorgeous melody. “Dum Dum Bullet” is an amazing album on which it is hard to pick a favorite because each and every single song has its own brilliant sides. Have fun.
