Salem – In The Beginning

Releasedate: 25-06-2010; Label: Pure Steel Records
By: Sabine van Gameren

The British band Salem has been around since 1980 already. They make classic rock, but never released much records. Much more of a surprise that the band comes, anno 2010, with a double album. “In The Beginning” is out now.

To maintain the sound from what they have been up too, the band felt like leaving an old school production over it. This is good for the atmosphere of the music, keeping its classic attitude a clean production would not be doing justice to the feeling. Most important thing in their music is the fact that they never become that band that stands in the spotlights at all times, having all eyes on them but they are more like a raw diamond, the shine is in there, but you just have to put some more effort in finding it. Take some time and listen to those riffs, yes not the most original perhaps, but the combination of them with the vocals that are not too powerful in the mix set down some good songs that fans of the classical rock surely adore. One album you surely want to have to enjoy the great summer days and luckily it also is released on vinyl.
