The band Against The Plagues is coming from Chicago, USA and they have spend about three years working on their debut album “Decoding The Mainframe”.
The guys have spend quite some time on this album and that have not stayed unnoticed. Their combination of Death and Black metal comes with ambient instrumentals, a filthy but recognizable vocals, well thought riffs that fit in place quite well between the rest of the music. The melodic parts in this album set a good atmosphere and are never taken into extremes. Some point that is perhaps less good about this album is the way that some transitions have been made. The start of a great riff often comes quite abrupt, out of nowhere. This could have been done more smoothly, as the disappearance of it goes fluent as it should be. This would be a minor point, considering the ambient parts that this makes so beautiful and some vocals that are pleasant to listen to as they never dominate too much but are in good balance with the instrumentals.
The info sheet of this album was quite name-dropping. This was so totally unnecessary as the music itself has enough class to impress the listeners without knowing there are big names involved. Those who are still hesitating will get convinced by what people have to say about the music rather than the names that come with it. It’s a topper.
