Esoterica is a dark progressive rock band from UK that now has released their second album called “The Riddle”.
The album starts out with an awesome rock voice that stays with you throughout all thirteen songs. The tunes on “The Riddle” are catchy and thriving, the choruses are easy to sing along. The dark rock music also includes some synthesized sounds. All together sums up to an energetic arrangement that is spreading a powerful stream of energy that also fills up your body. Songs about life keep you on the ground though. On the bridge of “Chemical” you can hear a distorted voice as if been recorded through a phone. “Fill Me With Love” is – as the name already lets you guess – a love song, slower and heartfelt. The last song “Watch This Dive” is an awesome song and a wonderful closing for “The Riddle”. By looking at the green cover only I would not have expected the album to be that awesome. It is far from mainstream yet an album you can play to everyone. The booklet itself is a little bit of a riddle, not much info, only green with little portraits of each band member. By taking a closer look at it you find some symbols and signs. Esoterica, a band we should keep our eyes and ears open for!
