a.lostfield – Internal Affairs

Releasedate: 30-05-2010;
By: Sabine van Gameren

The band a. Lostfield is coming from Colombia. This band makes experimental metal, gets their influences from different styles. “Internal Affairs” is their debut album.

Listening to this band brings you into some mixed emotions about their music. Something in this music sounds forced, made it under pressure of time or the will to make this sound like something they really like, but never got to the point the band wanted to reach, a struggle which ended in desperation and then released because no one knew exactly how to get it further. With their experimenting the band got it overdone.
Ash Lostfield is the guy who composes the music, it gets performed by two other musicians which share all the instrumental duties. The instruments are not really in good harmony with eachother and therefore the music appears quite messy. At the first sight, the band has produced some metal that is easy to listen to, but when focusing on it a bit further there is a disappointment. This mainly because you can hear the search to perfection, the will is there, but has not come out yet. I hope they won’t give up and keep going on before they decide to release it, this album has resulted to be a bit of a failure in determination.
