Ellie Goulding (born Elena Jane Goulding on 30 December 1986)is an English singer-songwriter and guitarist. She rose to fame after topping the BBC Sound of 2010 poll and winning the Critics Choice Award at the 2010 BRIT Awards. After signing to Polydor Records in 2009, Goulding released her first extended play, Now Ellie Goulding has released her debut studio album “Lights”.

Young Brit Pop with catchy melodies divided into 10 tracks is what “Lights” brings into your CD player. Ellie Goulding has a sweet young voice with a typical Brit Pop sound. The songs are all very suitable for the radio: catchy and danceable, sometimes girly, sometimes more glittery. Her accent fits in very well with the sound. Even though this kind of music seems to be popular right now and you can find quite some music having that sound, Ellie Goulding is still somehow special. I can’t really point my finger on it, but there is something about her that keeps her apart from others. Maybe it is the easy way of singing,she sings the songs as there was nothing else in the world. The lyrics are very deep yet very girly at times though. The melodies get easily stuck in your head. Behind all the pop you can also find some synthesized samples. Ellie Gouldings “Lights” definitely brightens your day. Enjoy.
