Nachtfalter – Was Bleibt

Label: Echozone
Releasedate:
24-05-2019

Nachtfalter is a project by the duo Tobias Serfling and Tom Günzig. They make Gothic Metal and although they started this project only in 2017, they have been playing in a diversity of formations in the scene. They now come with a debut album called “Was Bleibt”

For some genres it is not so much a win to have the lyrics in German if you aim internationally, but with this Dark Rock, Gothic style it could work quite well. Many examples have been there to prove that. So although at first one needs to get used to it, the songs are composed it such a way that it easily becomes part of your ear. Catchy and melancholic at some songs and others being much darker and deeper. It is good to see they can vary with that a bit.
The whole has quite an electro feel to it, while sometimes it makes one wonder if one took a more metal approach and dig into that vehemence. It could give this band a bit more of an own face as although it is brought with quality it is not something that is unique. Take a bit more of the direction of Charon or Poisonblack into it and combine it with this music and it would certainly set itself into a void that is created when these bands disbanded.

Altogether this is a well-executed release. You can hear the guys have experience and are having a solid backing to harvest from. Let’s see what this project develops to, worth to keep track on.
