Rob Keyzer was traveling to Spain and decided to have this trip as an inspirationsource for a music project. It is called Going To Catalunya. A selftitled debut album was made and is out now.
‘“Going to Catalunya” can be seen as a metaphor for love, friendship and being on the lookout for beauty and the meaning of life’ they tell about this. A trip that obviously left an impression but there is more to it. Rob’s friend Marnix passed away and while he was a part of the whole the album has a bit more of deeper message to it. Musically you can expect to hear acoustic pop. Sometimes light, sometimes a bit darker but above all this is an album of which you listen carefully to the words. Because that is the essence to what the story brings, but you cannot disconnect it from its musical surroundings either. The atmosphere that is set is a key element to the experience of this release. However thay could have brought that with some more strength.
Production-wise there is some to grow from, but this project seems more something you need to see live rather than listen to on CD anyway. It is something you will enjoy to listen to, but maybe not something one keeps on heavy rotation. Once the story is there, it is there. On the look for a next trip?
