Label: Norma Evangelium Diaboli
Releasedate: 31-05-2019
The Icelandic Misþyrming formed in 2013. With their Black Metal they came to a debut two years later and anno 2019 a follow up is presented. It is called “Algleymi” and is available now.
It took us a bit, to listen to this one. For several reasons. At most because the album is quite rich. There are lots of details to discover and you don’t want to miss out so it feels like it needs some more spins. Then the albums grows even more on you, so it has that as an extra benefit. The melancholic songs are there to bring you in a dreamy state of Black Metal. “Hælið” for example, a track that is somewhat short but drags you into their music a bit further. Then there are the heavier tracks where vocals are making their impression. The vehemence there is vivid.
The guys have taken their time from the first to their second album and that seemed to work well for them. The songs seem well thought and the tracklist as a whole suits together perfectly.
If you are more into traditional Black Metal this album may not be a winner, but for a overwhelmingly intense experience these guys are up you alley nevertheless. A fine release that I expect to find back on the yearlists.
