Mind Abduction is a Progressive Metal act from Finland. They have started in 2003 and released just some demo’s. Until around 2013 the band was not that active but some more live shows were done from that moment on. In 2014 the band released a digital album called “Monolith” and anno 2018 they released “Comet”.
The first time I wrote about this band I was surprised about how their fanbase was substantially low on social media.Luckily the guys have grown it a bit, but perhaps with this release they can find their way to people a bit more. Musically they have the ammo for it. Grown a lot since “Monolith” I would say. Songwriting improved, the band gives the impression to have had a strong idea of what to make and instrumentally they make some surprising choices here and there. Vocalwise, it is still a point that makes it or bbreaks it for people. The patient people who like to dig deeper and allow themselves more time will feel see it grows on them, while one judges too soon walks out before dessert is on the table.
Titletrack “Comet” is perhaps the most friendly one to get the feel of the band, but it comes halfway the album, these cleanest voice is developing and when the climaxes of the song are passing by you feel where the band gets at his best. When keeping of this pace, ready to slay the hearts of many, but can they enlarge these climaxes in their music a bit more?! Think… Before The Dawn-like. Surely these parts are bringing you in but when they take on a bit more it feels like the guys could grab the listener even more.
So, “Comet” is one that needs some listening. Do you take that time, you are eligable in finding a band that can bring us many surprises in the future. They are right on track with “Comet”.
