Wishbone Ash – Twin Barrels Burning/Raw To The Bone

by Sabine van Gameren 1 August 2018

Wishbone Ash are a British rock band who gained success in the 70’s. Through the years the band never really quite playing, having many releases on their name. We received two, “Raw To The Bone” (1985) and “Twin Barrels Burning”(1982) as they are re-released this year.

A whole lot of names are associated with this formation, but the strength of their guitarists is always a great draw to their extensive audience. Anno 2018 you can have both the original band as martin Turner’s Wishbone Ash on your hands, but for these releases we look back at the original material. The guys had quite some years on the counter already when they came out and the songs of then are sounding solid and mature. With the re-release they become available again for a whole new audience who can only found these song in one of the various live performances that this band has done through the years. That is what we know them from, they have this reputation of being a stunning live act and with these albums they can only highlight that. It surely is lovely to enjoy these riffs in the comfort of your own house, but the sultry atmosphere of the music gives you more of a mood to go out, to your local venue and be part of it.

Great that these albums get re-released. A nice one for people who didn’t get their hands on it yet, a gift for people who still learn about this band and their enormous career.
