Snowapple – Wexico

[schema type=”review” name=”Snowapple – Wexico” author=”Sabine van Gameren” pubdate=”2018-06-08″ ]Snowapple is a band that has its base both in Amsterdam and Mexico. A combination of musicians with a diverse background coming together in the name of music. It resulted in this EP called “Wexico”.

The average Tempelores reader may not be too much of this kind of music. Perhaps while eating Mexican food at a restaurant but that is where the thrill ends. To be honest, this release is not gonna lure you over if that is the case. It has all the stereotypes in there and combining that with the sometimes unpleasant voices of the ladies, there is not really much of a reason to keep holding onto it. Somehow we feel that the ladies could look at an act like O’G3NE to see if they can take some of that into their own songs to elevate it to something new. Male voices are more of pro in this release, never letting you down. Well executed.
Guitars are somewhat interesting, played with passion, but not really unique or refreshing. It is there, done well, but cliché. The mood of the songs is summer minded, which makes it good for a few listens as this kind of music suits you. Otherwise, this release may not be one that scores high points. It’s just an EP and we are happy that the last track is over.
