[schema type=”review” name=”Rough Grind – Trouble or Nothing ” description=”Label: Inverse Records” author=”Milla Smile” pubdate=”2018-07-13″ ]

Rough Grind is newbie on the Finnish music stage. Not so long history of the band consists couples of singles and EPs. However, “Trouble or Nothing” is a good foreplay for the whole album. Perhaps, fact that Finns are leading in terms of amount of coffee drinkers per capita could explain why all the information of the band includes many details about the taste, quality and degree of coffee roasting. So it seems, the band is metaphorically over-caffeinated. But let’s postpone the gourmet component of the prehistory and taste the EP.

There were many changes in rock music during the time but old good traditions didn’t become obsolete. It’s pleasure for ears listening to melodic riffs of crying guitars and raw voice that singing about of national Finnish treasure – sisu – powerful strength. EP consists only four tracks and I’d like to mention “The Bulletproof” as the key track of the record. By the way, the opening of the song reminded of “Devils” by “The 69 Eyes” but then it was kinda different and more like hard rock itself.

In general, new EP optionally sounds like something in between one of the best cups you’ve ever had and bitter, undrinkable mess. Discover how “Rough grind” affects your cup and which is right for your brew method of choice. If it’s still not damn good coffee then give it another chance to impress you. Next time it could be the café with any kind of coffee.
