Bombino is a musician from Niger. He makes a fine combination of Blues, jazz, funk and whatever he feels needed. His new album “Deran” got out this year.
Well, if you are into guitar music this album is one to recommend, something you find out right away when listening to this release. Inspiring songs full of riffs that are exciting, and never too much overdone. Taking the spotlights in all modesty and being absolutely grand in that. Have you heard al that Santana more than enough? Meet Bombino. You’ll be enlightened!
Regardless that Bombino does not have the most stable years in his life, he had to run away from his country several times to live in safety, the songs seem all to have a somewhat positive vibe. Sure, you won’t understand the words in the songs, but you don’t need to because the guitars are bringing so much joy and atmosphere that you live along with it anyway. When the tempo gets up a little more you may even be tempted to get up and dance.
“Deran” is an album that has many surprising edges, maybe not something one would listen to every day. It stands out in originality and will guarantee you with quite some spins!
