Pleasureagony us a metal formation from Germany. The band makes a mix of Thrash and Melodic Metal, blending in whatever they think it needs. The band released their debut album called “Pleasureagony” recently.
This band has an interesting way of presenting their music, the artwork you find inside the box shows you a dirty toiletpot of which we wonder if that might be a silent hint the music is shit. Not much happiness on the booklet either, the band sets the tone right away. The name Pleasureagony already tells you they like to find the line between the comfortable and the opposite. Musically that translate as well. Skilfully enough they give us 13 compositions that are interesting to listen to. Sometimes it seems a bit uncontrolled, mainly on the vocal side and would you wonder whether they could have taken more time to find a balance between the instruments and the vocals to strengthen the best qualities of each, but in general the guys come with vehemence and power. Having a progressive edge they know how to enhance the ambiance of the music when it is needed and give the album the variance it needs to keep one interested throughout.
Altogether, this selftitled debut is an interesting one. These guys know what they want and show that they can grow to heights. Just some finetuning here and there, but it is certainly a nice start.
