The Autumn Offering is an American Metal band formed in 1999. In their career they got through several line up changes which didn’t prevent them from touring with bands such as Slayer, Slipknot and Killswitch Engage. Requiem is their fourth album.
If the title Requiem suggests you something calm and quite you’re totally off the track with this album. A bombastic and energetic sound is to be found in every second of the album, which is a pretty mellow example of what The Autumn Offering wants to bring to the listener. Typical Metal Core elements, like throaty vocals, are blended with more melodic sounds like clean vocals line which surely takes effect. Catchy guitar riffs are not left aside though, as you can hear from Light of Day which is a instrumental song as well as a pleasant interlude. The title track Requiem is maybe one of the most successful song on the album as it starts very calmly and then grows louder and louder till you just can’t keep yourself still. It is all clustered in a logical order, even thought it might take a while to get used to the pretty weird mix, but after the first tracks it flows quite easily.
