Waves Under Water – Serpents and The Tree

Releasedate: 16-10-2009; Label: Danse Macabre
By: Nina Mende

Waves Under Water is a Swedish darkwave band with a female singer who have now released their debut album “Serpents And The Tree”.

The album is very dreamy and melodic. Mostly slow and fairytale like it enters your ear taking you away into another world. Sometimes you can find male backing vocals. The lyrics are as dreamy. Throughout the album you get lead deeper and deeper into the darker spheres of the fairytale Waves Under Water sing about. The atmosphere is created by the nice music they composed fitting perfectly well to the lyrics. While listening to this album you definitely lose grip to the real world. And I am sure images will be created in your head.
The artwork layout of CD case and booklet is very artistic, held in the style and colors that fall brings along. It reminds of a mystic theme, a fairyland with witches, elves and trolls. You can find all lyrics in the booklet. “Serpents And The Tree” seems only the beginning to a bigger saga the three Swedish musicians are about to tell the world. So keep your eyes and ears open. This will definitely not be the last time you hear about them.
