Norwegian singer Sivert Høyem is back with a new album. Most people knew Sivert already from his work with Madrugada, but that came to an end in 2007 and for many years we can now enjoy him with his own band.
“Lioness”, album number five for this Norwegian, is a release that raises the bar for others. The album is bringing so much that one does not simply be done with one or two spins to get the experience. No, it is a very rich release that embraces a lot more than one could anticipate on. Sivert is king in setting atmosphere. His voice is so diverse that he can bring you so many sides of it in one album and never cease to keep the connection with it alive. You know blindly it is him. But it is not only his voice that does the trick, the arrangements made, the instruments that are there for a support, not taking the lead but guide you through an ambiance of dark romance, passion and dreams.
Whether it is an up-tempo track that puts the smile on your face or a slower song like “It Belongs To Me” where acoustic guitar is added, Sivert is captivating and brings an experience. Do you close your eyes, you imagine your hand taken by a prince asking you to dance, or perhaps you are the prince looking for the fine lady to share a dance with.
“Lioness” is a rich experience, an album that is giving you so much more than the beautiful music it holds. Hours of listening, hours of imagination, it is ahead of you when having this one in your collection. We expect that this one not meets the Tempelores office storage before the end of the year!
