Progformation Lion Shepherd has its base in Poland. This year they come with the album “Hiraeth”.
Right from the beginning this album gives a quite mellow feeling. Calm music with influences from all over the world. The guys have an international approach and that is really one of the key elements in the album for it is not only its influences that go beyond the borders but it becomes clear enough that their ambitions meet this just as well.
The album starts with “Fly on” which is truly setting the atmosphere of the album, but the band takes up some more power when a song like “Brave New World” passes by. Then at the end of the track list the band surprises you with “Smell of War” which surprises you with the vocals and its overall Arabic touch. The song has a lot of passion and is one of which the beauty will come to you when listened a couple of times. The last song is less impressive, too calm although at the end it raises some tension still.
“Hiraeth” is not like your everyday prog-experience. It goes beyond that and with the world as a theme the band is open for a wide group of audience.
