28-08-2009 The Winyls

Venue: Kamppi Square, Helsinki (Finland)
By: Nina Mende

The Winyls is a Finnish rock band who has two albums out so far. The songs are all very catchy and melodic. Now, after quite some time, I finally made it to one of their shows.

They played at the Kamppi square in Helsinki, right in front of a new youth club that has just opened. Several fans were already standing right in front of the stage as I arrived. By the time the band began playing several others had joined the crowd. As the band was playing the audience danced around and sang along, cheering out loud and clapping a lot for the guys. The Winyls had a lot of fun on stage and played with the audience. During one song the singer even left the stage to walk through the audience. The band moved around a lot on stage. The music got you going along and you just had to dance along. Everybody had a good time and seemed happy during the performance which lasted for about 40 minutes. The singer always played around with his hat. The songs they played were off both albums. The Winyls are indeed a great live band. It is a lot of fun watching them perform on stage.
