Venue: Friday Music Bar, Helsinki (Finland)
By: Nina Mende
Deep Insight was formed in early 2002 by childhood friends Jukka (vocals) and Johannes (guitar). They were later joined by Miska (bass) and Ville (drums). Their music is a mixture of American and emo rock, with Scandinavian influences As of 2008 they had played almost 300 shows in 20 countries. The single Hurricane Season reached number one on the Finnish Singles Chart in 2005, retaining its position for six weeks. They have four albums released and played at a pub called Friday tonight.
Quite fitting, because it still was Friday. At least as we entered the bar. It was totally crowded and people actually stood in line to get in. Deep Insight began to play shortly past midnight. The singer came on stage with crutches and sat down on a bar chair. Poor him because from all the past Deep Insight shows I’ve seen so far I remember him moving around quite a lot. Tonight it didn’t seem like he would be able to do so. But the rest of the band made up for him. There was an additional guitar player on stage with the guys. The drummer Ville and the bass player performed very energetic, so did Johannes, he even jumped into the drums during the show. The band played old and new songs including all their hits. The audience jumped and sang along, had a blast rocking with Deep Insight. You could see that Jukka had a hard time sitting still and that he wanted to jump around badly, but the audience did that for him. Deep Insight played for about an hour plus three songs encore. It was a very thriving performance with nobody standing still in the entire bar. But that’s typical Deep Insight, you just have to rock with them. No matter what!
