Crucifyre is a Swedish DeathMetal formation formed in 2006. In 2010 the band released a debut album and about four years later a brand new release called “Black Magic Fire” is out now.
Four year we did not hear from the band and while we get an inspiring reminder from the label of their existence we certainly got interested to check it out. Death Metal, a lot about satan and what is around. A sometimes rather slow tempo gives you plenty of time to listen to the words and with the vocals going from quite clean to some growls here and there the whole has maybe the body of the Death Metal but what we are looking for is the soul to give it identity. The album is not one that will stick in mind easily for that, it has maybe not something new under the sun, but the band has some interesting points to bring. The drums are brought with a serious fury, a bit thrashy and combine these with the guitars who set some more tempo into it or slow you down drastically there is a remarkable field of tensions in this release. Highlight on the album is the track “Through The Darkness” where everything falls in place just right.
“Black Magic Fire” is a decent release and shows the band has taken their time to grow a bit. Will you not expect a new invention but take the time to enjoy what is there and let yourself be surprised?!
