The Drip – A Presentation of Gruesome Poetics

Releasedate: 15-04-2014; Label: Relapse Records
By: Sabine van Gameren

American formation The Drip has been formed in 2007. The band makes Grindcore and so far only released EP’s. This year another EP came out. It’s named “A Presentation of Gruesome Poetics”.

You are presented with 6 tracks but not a long playtime. Not that you feel like you ain’t getting a full experience, you get that, just squeezed into a twelve minute package. Basically the band races through their material, a race against themselves as it seems. Will those raging guitars win it from the bouldering vocals? Is the drummer blasting away that bassist? Well, perhaps it should be seen more as a relay. All of them have their moments of shine but in the end it comes out as a team effort. They strengthen each other as it should be in a band.
What makes the band unique is that their sound is very rich. There is so much to hear in a split second that it makes sense to listen it some more. Plenty Grind bands master these short song, but not all of them can manage to give you a full experience like The Drip has realized in “A Presentation of Gruesome Poetics”.
