Location: Nosturi, Helsinki (Finland)

Last year’s Christmas edition of Metalorgy was postponed due to circumstances. That means that this year there were two editions of Metalorgy. Christmas edition it is this time then.

First up is ErilaZ. The EBM/Industrial formation has released a full length album called “Black God of The Hunt” so plenty material to play. It seems like the audience knows some of the songs at least although the response comes not right away, but a few songs into the set. There is a bit dark mood into the music but combine that with the danceable tunes and you get introduced to the typical sound of ErilaZ. Towards the end of the set the songs are getting deeper and more intense as it seems. Today is the last day that synth player aQi is involved with the band. A great way to end at the Nosturi stage. Some announcements of the new line-up will be made soon, but for this last time we had the chance to enjoy it as on “Black God Of The Hunt”.

When Fear of Domination enters the stage at Nosturi you can be guaranteed of an experience. The band never lets their audience get away with an average set but always has some extraordinary surprise up for them. Right from the beginning there were some pyro’s going off and Niko Hyttinen was around to add some crazy drums to the whole. In the new year the band will release a brand new album and some singles have already been released. Just before the festival the fans could see the music video for the song “Legion” which the band performed as well. Some classic Fear of Domination songs followed and with an overcrowded venue observing it, the party was quite complete.

The Extreme Metal formation Diablerie was a bit of a victim of being right after a band that sets down a spectacular show. These guys are more into the strength of their sound to make an impression and have a more calm appearance when it comes to the performance. The band has a sound that is strong, goes on as a bulldozer that tanks all over everything that blocks its path. Vocalist Henri Villberg has the task to come over that and bring the words into relation with the instrumentals. He has a charisma that gives off that a no-nonsense attitude is amongst them and brings that alive while performing. Stated clearly, Diablerie is not a band for pussies, straightforward and in your face they are. A strong appearance from these guys today!

Turmion Kätilöt was the last band of the evening. The band is traditionally the closing act and this time was not an exception. Vocalist MC Raaka Pee perhaps a little immobilized, but never a minute seem to feel hestitation to bring a lot of the usual show to the stage. These Finns are consistent in their shows, so people know quite what they are up to, some front row fans are wearing facepaint and sing along loudly to the songs. A little mosh pit starts halfway the set and later we’ll find some crowdsurfer making his way over the audience. So this Christmas edition got ended in style, a wild party for the fans and music that every Metalorgy visitor will know by now.
