Mass Murder Agenda – 28-09-2012

Interview with: Tristan Agdler
By: Sabine van Gameren

The Swedish Mass Murder Agenda is in Finland and so when we got a chance to speak with them, it was Tristan Agdler who sat down with us.

While the guys released their debut album in May of this year, we wondered mainly what would be the initial idea of the band. Tristan tells us that there is loads of different influences in what the band makes what they are, but what it has in common is that it all adds intensity to the sound. “We were just putting together some songs that show agression , pure and raw aggression” Tristan says while he starts telling us more about how the band is formed. Joakim (bassist) and him knew eachother for a long time and were in for working on something together. While Joakim has a Death/Thrash background with playing in bands like Face Down, Tristan comes from a more industrial background. When they started to think of what the band would be they just wanted to play live. “We had some ideas for about 5 songs. So the initial idea was to be brutal and heavy enough to get out and play. The rest just happened” Tristan explains.

Bring The Violence
So now the band has their album out and people get to know their music. Online some discussions about the name has been there and when asking Tristan about what he thinks about the fact that people make such an issue of it. He simply said: “It’s there to provoke. We know some will gonna love it and some will hate it, there is not much in between. That’s how it is.
Then tonight it seems like some of those who love it have gathered and show the band their love. Moshpits going on and a set that worked well. When we discuss what is the strength of the album Tristan tells that it is the diversity of it. The songs are all different but yet fit together on one album. Yet another reference to the fact that the guys have different backgrounds. While wondering what unites it all the front man tells: “It is held together in the way that there is this obvious undertone in the theme that we live in a fucked up world.” As the band has this not only hearable in their music, the lyrics etc they also back it up with their visuals and their artwork so it is clear that this is one of the factors that defines the band. The purpose of releasing “Bring The Violence” is to start the rumour and get their band to play. “In order to get shows, especially in Germany Holland etc you need to have music out. We really hope that we get to do more shows with it, that was the original idea.” Tristan tells on. While talking a bit about the tracks that turned out most surprising Tristan mentions three, “#1 With A Bullet”, “Gagball” and “Sucker”. About the last we talked a bit further as it is one that is the most catchiest on their release. “Its not not a hard song, the lyrics are straightforward, but on the same side it has that EBM side and catchy melody” tells about the song.

Futureplans
While the band is playing their gigs abroad, a small tour with Fear of Domination, it is clear that the band has reached the world. But the question is what is the band currently up to. What more can we expect. Tristan tells that the band is already working on their second album, leaving no time go to waste. They are writing a lot of material, finding a way to develop their sound even further. “We know each other way more now, more of what we like and what we can do” he tells and when we ask if he already know when we can expect this new release he answers: “Hopefully it will be out in spring, but you know how that goes.”
