The Italian Doom formation (EchO) has been founded in 2007. A couple of promo’s came out before, but now the band comes with their full length release “Devoid of Illusions”.
The band says that their intentions were to create music with different influences and the total outcome on this record quite shows that. Yet, the band have found a way to connect it all and make each track match. Above all it is Melodic and in combination with the Death/Doom that results in tracks that have a strong body, but remain quite accessible. Some parts are acoustic, which is a nice addition as well. The Italians surely bring a lot of variation in this release, with quite some long tracks this is very welcome and keeps you interested throughout.
The band has some interesting vocals, a good grunt combined with clean vocals that come quite clear. The bass is represented quite well and guitars are heavy also. This all comes together in a good production so everything seems to be balanced quite well. Simply a fine release of these Doom Metal formation. Perhaps we’ll see them on the road in Europe soon, maybe with compatriots The Foreshadowing which also have a new release coming up. That would suit quite well.
