Supports: Shuriken; Venue: Tivoli de Helling, Utrecht (Netherlands)

Shuriken is band from The Netherlands. To say what they make, let’s take their own words describing it as Indie Noise Rock.

The band did not really make an impression on the audience as the response they received was quite tame. This is much likely a result of all the talking in between the songs that totally break the atmosphere. Annoying little comments that distract a lot. Musically they did not do that bad, a little change in the set may do cause the tensions within the music did not really come out logically like this. A bit chaotic, but overall the band seem to bring a strong package in which the guitars stand out most.
Bardo Pond is definitely making up for it. The band sets an intimate atmosphere right from the start. The Americans are around since 1991 and got known for their psychedelic post-rock sound. Instruments as the flute are not that general so immediately capture people’s attention. In the start the sound of it was quite soft though but soon the volume got a bit higher which creates a mystical atmosphere in venue. Some people are sitting down, right on the floor and observe it from there while others gaze at the stage in awe. Surely Bardo Pond impresses! Their set is built with more logic and each songs works to a highlight in which you get followed up or hardly broken down to play with the impact of it. So come the band surprised many and have succeeded in their show. One to be recommended!
