Orlando, Florida’s Last Winter are about to release their second album for Lifeforce Records – “The Heart & The Broken Compass”. Following the path of “Under The Silver Of Machines” (2007) the quintet is focusing on an vital and catchy sound in between alternative rock and powerpop, that is based on pure honesty and emotional passion. And the guys are right: There is nothing wrong about having overhanging hooklines, dozens of melodies and tons of memorable refrains – as long as a band is sticking to authenticity and instinctiveness. Last Winter are doing so! “The Heart & The Broken Compass” is consisting of ten perfect hymns for this years’ warm season – making summer even more sunny and enjoyable. There is no doubt about this conclusion!
Drawing on influences from 80’s Glam, 90’s alternative, powerpop and today’s modern rock music, Last Winter were born in November 2002 in the heart of Central Florida. Self-released debut album “Transmission:Skyline” (2005) first proved bands given ability to transform pure emotion into dynamic and fascinating songs, people and Lifeforce Records fell in love with immediately. “The Heart & The Broken Compass” now continues, were “Under The Silver Of Machines” stopped. Last Winter listen to their hearts and set them to music. The music on “The Heart & The Broken Compass” is very catchy, especially with the electro samples that are included in the tracks.
