23-04-2011 Traffic Jam Warm Up Party

Venue: Krone, Darmstadt (Germany)
By: Nina Mende

Festival season is only weeks away and Traffic Jam is only 3 months away. Sounds way too long though! That’s why there was a Traffic Jam warm-up party with four amazing bands and a DJ aftewards. The venue was packed and everybody was in a good mood. The audience was quite young in average, just like the bands. All bands were from Germany except for Only Attitude Counts, they were from Austria. The light in the venue was really dim. But except for that everything was great.

The first band was a ska punk band from Germany, called Ska Allüren. A true punk band singing in German with trumpets. Founded in 2002 they have been rocking ever since. The audience was dancing around, moving around and cheering out loud during and after each song. They definitely spread good vibes and infected the people. The music was hard to stand still to, it was impossible to not jump around to the music. The guys – and girl – were granted a three song encore and the audience still wanted more.
Alles Franziska was the complete opposite of the previous band: Pop music, not as fast and thriving, but still good. The lyrics were all in German and very funny. So were the guys. They told stories along with each song. Alles Franziska were four guys making fun with each other and the audience. This time the audience seemed a little scared of getting up closer to the stage. But the band made a great move on that: After each song they asked the audience to just come one step closer, and they all did. Alles Franziska, a funny pop band.

Now Only Attitude Counts entered the stage. This band started out in 1993 with the intention to spread their music and message worldwide all over the planet. Through their hard working ethic and their never-ending determination O.A.C gained more and more respect and became an institution in the international Hardcore/Metal/Punkrock scene. So again, a complete contrast to the previous band. The audience had moved far away from the stage again. This time because some big guys were getting ready to start a mosh pit though. The band came on and blasted out right away. The music was fast and aggressive. The fans were moshing around, even starting a circle pit. The singer as well as the bass player left the stage to go down to the audience. The singer sang together with his fans. What a brilliant performance with the band being so close to the audience.

Last band of the night was Evil Cavies, another Ska punk band. But a little classier than the first band of the night. It had gotten late and the bands were well delayed, but the people had stuck around for Evil Cavies. It even seemed like most people were here only because of them. The audience went up close to the stage all excited to see the band perform and ready to move along. And they did. As soon as Evil Cavies entered the stage, the house went crazy. Everybody was dancing around, singing along and having the time of our lives. Simply amazing. The band spread such a happiness and positive vibes. I was speechless. They talked to the audience, got some of them to stage dive and even stage dove themselves. They moved around on stage as much as the audience moved around on the dance floor. It was an amazing performance that still leaves me speechless when just thinking of it. Strange that they don’t play big stages yet, because that’s definitely where they belong!

Last one of the night was Melted Moon. A nintendo / gameboy DJ that tried to get the audience have a great rest evening. But it had gotten way late already and most people had left already after Evil Cavies were done.

Oh what a night. That would be hard to top! If Traffic Jam will be even half as brilliant, it will be an amazing festival. But, honestly, between us: Just look at the festival line-up and you’ll know already that Traffic Jam itself will be so much better! So get your tickets now and mark the calendar! Traffic Jam is just around the corner and it will be the time of your life, so be there and be part of the party!
